where is the hardware. why not have some good instructions.what i thought the product did ,it does ok. but getting to the point of attatching to the saw and to the track are not clear because of product design flaws.such a good idea wasted through production.
Similar to other reviews here, the plate does not slide very well so you have to put baking soda so that it slides better. The plate is not universal, I have a milwaukee hand saw and the saw disc does not fit in the plate slot, I have to chip away some pieces for it to work. Overall this was a bad investment, too much work around when it should've worked from the start.
Several years ago, I bought an earlier model of this saw plate to go with a 50" All In One clamp. While using the saw was still exciting due to the disabled blade guard, the feel of the saw gliding along ripping one inch cedar boards true enough for edge gluing was great. It seems to me that Emerson could preempt a lot of complaints by shipping the plate with a complementary little beeswax disc. It was a little hokey drilling holes in the saw and plate and a little dangerous having the floating part of the blade guard disabled, but the plate slid along the 50 inch clamp just fine. I needed to rewax after about fifty boards. Imagine my dismay when my 99" All In One arrived from Amazon, and the plate just wouldn't slide at all without jerking and tilting and expletives deleted. The plate was made of a white plastic, and you had to plunge cut your own saw slot. While I'm not saying that this will work for you, it might be worth a try.
Desperate to get on with my work, I found a little beeswax puck in my toolbox and proceeded to rub it over ALL the clamp surfaces that could possibly come in contact with the plate, and against the whole bottom and all edges of the plate. Voila, the balky plate smoothly mated with the clamp and would majestically cruise down the rail as if it were designed to do so. A good paste wax like Butcher's Wax would probably work as well, maybe even a candle.
The saw plate I received did not slide in the guide. I returned it.
However, I found out when I tried to follow the directions, it becomes necessary to remove the plate to change saw blades. Purchased my plate from Rockler. It would have been better if the unit had some provision to clamp the saw to the plate, so it'd be easier to manage. The directions how to attach the plate to your circular saw leave something to be desired - all you get is a crudely drawn diagram on the back of the package. I ended up using metal screws to attach to my circular saw base plate. Even though, it does work wonderfully once you get the saw configured. Just don't think attachments will be effortless.
